New Music: Vasudeva - "Take Away"
Instrumental math-rockers Vasudeva have spent over 8 years as New Jersey’s best kept secret in the Indie Rock scene. Though, to be fair, the word “secret” no longer applies to them anymore. 2016 alone has seen the trio play some incredible shows, from the UK’s ArcTanGent festival to the legendary FEST in Gainsville, Florida. The most remarkable aspect of Vasudeva is the fact that no matter where they’ve toured or grown in notoriety, they’ve never forgotten their roots. They still play with the same intensity and skill that became apparent since their first EP, 2011’s Roots of the Tree.
Vasudeva’s newest single “Take Away” has already garnered plenty of buzz from fans. The upcoming album, No Clearance, has already been a hit on Bandcamp, making the release the #2 bestseller on the music site. If their post on Facebook is any indication, the band is surprisingly humble about the whole thing:
"We're releasing this song without an *exclusive write up from your fav blog* so we were thinking about including a long paragraph on everything within the song and the efforts gone through to make it, but maybe you should just listen close for yourself. Throw on some headphones."
“Take Away” is good—I mean, it’s damn good. Creating infectious grooves aren’t exactly an alien concept to them, but Vasudeva’s expanded on their winning formula. The guitar riffs are heavier and more intricate. The bass lines are meatier and the drums hit like a strike from itself. And to think: this is only one track off of the new album. I can only imagine just how explosive the other 10 are going to be.
No Clearance will be available on March 31 via Skeletal Lightning. Next month, Vasudeva will be hitting the road with CHON, Dance Gavin Dance and Eidola.
