We’re only a little over a month into 2021 and the year is already hitting us with a steady outpouring of incredible music.. Hailing from Asbury Park, New Jersey, the indie rock trio Dentist has been making waves with a number of outstanding full-length releases including 2016’s Ceilings and 2018’s Night Swimming. The latter album saw vocalist/bassist Emily Bornemann’s songwriting evolve, taking the band’s signature surf rock that it had made its name on and from bring forth an even deeper level of rawness and emotion. This in turn garnered the group an even larger fanbase and critical acclaim from The AV Club and The Aquarian.

With 2020 and the lingering COVID-19 pandemic sidelining touring, the music scene is decidedly a different one than most were expecting. To that end, Emily Bornemann, guitarist Justin Bornemann and drummer Matt Hockenjos found themselves facing a challenge in both crafting up a worthy follow-up to what is arguably their best album to date as well as navigate an uncertain landscape. From the bouncy opening riffs of their latest single “Don’t Let Me Catch You,” Dentist have emerged from a tumultuous year leaning in on some of the depression that was no doubt felt during this pandemic but then channels it into a fun, hopeful and energetic track that will definitely be in your heavy rotation.

“Don’t Let Me Catch” you is available now via Cleopatra Records.
